First jiu jitsu class

I don’t have photos but I wish you all could have seen H at her first Jiu Jitsu class. She was a beast! They couldn’t get her out of the circle and she went right in on all the hand to hand stuff and she was one of last two kids standing in dodgeball. She might have found her athletic calling.

Nice kid

We got a call from Hope's new 2nd grade teacher (we haven't met her yet) asking if Hope could be a special friend to a girl who is coming new to the school this year. She said the counselor Ms. Brown spoke very highly of Hope and how friendly she is. When I told Hope about the opportunity she immediately started planning supplies she could bring for both of them.

How to make nice friends

Just sit there and look scared on the first day. The kids who come up to check on you are the nicest ones. The ones who keep playing and ignore you are not so nice.

Today I told H and E that we have a surprise for them involving their cousins on Monday.
H [excited]: You mean Sawyer?!?

H: Oh my gosh! He's like the only boy kid who I actually love!

5. Multiple mini-stamps
6. Assorted beads and rocks
7. Three tags from a stuffed puppy
8. Three versions of her paper cellphone--one with a keypad, another with a full photo screen, and the final with "facetime" capabilities

The only useful item: an Index card with emergency contact information in case she gets separated from me at a rally
